P0110 — Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction
P0110 means the module detected an electrical fault in the intake air temperature sensor circuit. A failed sensor or wiring problem is the usual cause.
The engine runs using a default air temperature value, which may cause slightly rich or lean running depending on actual conditions.
What P0110 means
The intake air temperature sensor measures the temperature of air entering the engine. The module uses this data to calculate air density and adjust fuel delivery. P0110 sets when the sensor signal is out of the expected voltage range — either too high (open circuit, very cold) or too low (shorted, very hot). Many vehicles combine the IAT sensor with the MAF sensor in a single housing.

What causes P0110
IAT sensor has failed
The sensor's internal thermistor has opened or shorted, producing a signal outside the valid range.
Wiring or connector fault in the IAT circuit
A broken wire or corroded connector in the IAT circuit can produce an open or shorted signal.
IAT sensor integrated in MAF housing has failed
On many vehicles the IAT is part of the MAF sensor assembly. A MAF problem can therefore trigger both P0100-series and P0110 codes.
How to diagnose it
Locate the IAT sensor
Identify whether the IAT is a standalone sensor in the intake tract or integrated into the MAF sensor housing.
Measure sensor resistance
Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across its terminals. Resistance should change with temperature — approximately 2,500 ohms at 20C and 300 ohms at 80C.
Inspect the IAT connector and wiring
Check the sensor connector for corrosion, bent pins, or water intrusion. Trace the wiring back toward the module for chafed or broken wires.
